The mystery of death is conquered and assumed by the mystery of the love that God, who gave his only son for our salvation, has for us. Christ died so that we may live. Therefore death is assumed by love and love is eternal life for there is no death in Christ.

The devil does not seek to take over your possessions. He seeks to take possession of you. Once he ensnares you then all you have is his to will you to do as he bids you. So, as the great Paul says: “put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against a spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:11 – 12)

To those of us who are struggling to clear the field of our heart and are in despair as to the enormity of the task: patience. As St John Chrysostom said: “if you are wearing of praying, and do not receive, consider how often you have heard a poor man calling and have not listened to him.” Repentance, prayer and patience in the knowledge that whatever we do for the other we are really doing for the betterment of ourselves.

Grace from Christ is like an never ending spring of crystal-clear water constantly pouring forth. No matter how much is given more comes and comes abundantly. So drink from the water of life to have life and to have life over abundantly.
